     About

Background History

Information and Communication Technology Research Center (ICTRC) under Department of Research and Innovation, Ministry of Education was first setup with a vision to produce IT manpower ready to take on challenges of ever changing demands of IT industries and conducting industrial needed research to achieve greater economic and social impact on the whole nation.  Under ICTRC, India-Myanmar Center for Enhancement of Information Technology Skills (IMCEITS) is being run by the government in cooperation with India and Information and Communication Technology Training Institute (ICTTI) is being run in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).  These two training institutes provide advanced courses to develop ICT engineers to get employment opportunities with ICT skills.
IMCEITS was established on 16th October 2008 as a joint effort between Govt. of India and Govt. of Myanmar to technologically empower Myanmar citizens by means of IT education. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) which is an R & D organization of Ministry of Communication & IT, Govt of India has provided technical assistance for setting up the centre, course design & planning of course delivery. C-DAC has been involved in delivering training courses on cutting edge technologies in home and abroad for several years. About 2518 participants have been benefited by the courses running at IMCEITS.

Information and Communication Technology Training Institute (ICTTI) was established on December 2006 as a joint effort between Ministry of Education formerly known as Ministry of Science and Technology and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The first training course was successfully inaugurated on January 2007 as Technology Transfer Program. About 2798 participants have been benefited by the courses running at IMCEITS.

Participants included regular Graduate/Post-Graduate students aspiring to join IT industry as well as Govt. staffs of various departments of Govt. of Myanmar. Participants passed out from the centre have been well received by IT industry.

Strategies

  1. preprocessing to open the training courses
  2. calling the trainees
  3. holding entrance exam
  4. declaration of entrance exam result, acceptance of the trainees, collection of course fees and training subscription
  5. opening the training
  6. providing the diploma certificates to the graduated students
  7. upgradation of the technical knowledge of the teachers & opening the training for the capacity building of the staff

Objectives

  • Coordinating and conducting applied research in the aspects of ICT and its applications
  • To carry out ICT related research by collaboration with local and international organizations to effectively use at IT industries
  • To produce well-qualified IT specialists to conduct research by providing industry oriented ICT training programs to graduates and staffs from universities and ministries
  • Providing advanced courses to develop ICT engineers to get employment opportunities with ICT skills
  • Providing technical excellence and leadership in use of ICT for the industry and the society
  • To support in laying down the policies and projects of the state by carrying out researches

Vision

  • To coordinate and conduct innovative researches on the application of ICT to address societal and industrial needs to achieve greater economic and social impact on the whole nation.
  • To provide advanced ICT training programs to produce IT manpower ready to take on the challenges of ever changing demands of the IT industry.

Activities

           J2EE Framework Workshop from C-DAC

  • India Expert, MS. Madhura Anturkar (Visiting faculty for JAVA at C-DAC), presented workshop of J2EE Framework (Spring and   Struct to cover for both Framework and  Java Beans)
  • about 30 teachers from ICTRC and Computer Universities under the Ministry of Science and Technology attended the workshop
  • started on September 28,  2015 and ended on October 2, 2015

 

Project Management Workshop from C-DAC

  • India Expert, Mr. Ajay Bhattacharyya (Certified PMP and CIPM Global Peers Skilling & Development Initiative Pvt. Ltd), presented workshop of Project Management
  • about 35 teachers from ICTRC and Computer Universities under the Ministry of Science and Technology attended the workshop
  • started on April 25,  2016 and ended on April 30, 2016

 MOU Signing Ceremony with NTT Data Myanmar Co., Ltd 

    • held on July 6, 2015
    • held at Novotel Hotel
    • Deputy Minister of MOST attended and gave a thanking speech for MOU Signing Ceremony
  • Naychi Lai Lai Thein ( Director of ICTRC) delivered greeting speech
  • Naychi Lai Lai Thein (Director of ICTRC) and Mr. Masaki Horikawa (President and CEO) singed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
  • NTT Data Myanmar gave (10) scholarships to ICTRC trainees in each batch and they gave scholarships twice a year since 2015.

Knowledge Sharing from NTT Data

First Knowledge Sharing about IT and Our life

  • held on September 7, 2015
  • altogether 70 members from ICTRC attended
  • also 10 members of NTT Data Japan & NTT Data Myanmar attended
  • Miyazaki students from Japan also joined
  • they presented IT and Our life in Japan
  • they also grouped ICTRC and Miyazaki members to present “IT and Our Life in Myanmar in 2015”
  • selected the best group to present their topic
  • gave the present to the best group
  • Miyazaki students present activities concerned with electric circuit

 

Second Knowledge Sharing about e-commerce

  • altogether 100 members from ICTRC attended
  • also 10 members from NTT Data Japan & NTT Data Myanmar attended
  • they grouped ICTRC students to present about “e-commerce”
  • altogether 10 groups participated in knowledge sharing e-commerce
  • selected 3 best groups to present their topic
  • the first group is selected to give the present

 

Upcoming News and Events

  • going to continuously meet with international IT Companies to collaborate with ICTRC
  • also discuss to get technology transfer or technical cooperation
  • going to discuss with IT Companies to do joint research
  • entrance examination of IMCEITS & ICTTI usually holds entrance exam every March and September
